The Ukraine is setting up to shut all ports in Crimea to international shipping.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure P&I club Skuld has issued an order No. 255 titled “On Closure of Sea Ports” in a circular.
The directive is now with the Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice and is likely to be published on July 15 when it would take official effect.
The shutting to international would have an effect on five ports of Kerch, Theodosia, Sevastopol, Yalta and Evpatoria.
“Our correspondents warned that if a ship were to call at a port in Ukraine after effectiveness of circular, then consequences could follow, including delays, detention and fines. Formal prosecution steps could also follow by Ukrainian officials,” the circular stated.
“As members are aware, the present legal situation with respect to the Crimean region is a political matter without a certain stand,” it added.
