ISLAMABAD: As preparations for the upcoming Budget 2015 gain momentum, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is mulling over slapping a temporary ban on visitors at the FBR Headquarters from May 1.
Since the staff are busy preparing proposals for the upcoming budget, the main purpose of imposing this ban is to ensure that budgetary proposals are finalised without any disturbance, and to stop leaking of information.
After the ban, only those visitors will be allowed at the headquarters who the members want to meet, that too after prior appointment with the relevant member. After the appointment is finalised, the relevant member will have to get the visitor’s name entered at the reception.
Moreover, no visitor of any officer below the BS-21 will be allowed at the FBR Headquarters. This ban will also apply to media persons. It may be mentioned here that imposition of this ban on visitors in such a scenario is a normal practice, which has been witnessed during the past few years. It is also part of the steps taken at the FBR Headquarters during preparation of budgetary proposals.
