KARACHI: Pakistan Customs-FBR has recovered an amount of Rs 5million from a Chinese cellular company, which was involved in violating the SRO560 (I) of the Sales Tax Ordinance, 1990.

According to the details, the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Appraisement-East has detected a case of tax evasion in which a Chinese cell phone company was found involved in violating the SRO 560(I) of the Sales Tax Ordinance, 1990 on import of telecommunication accessories.

The MCC-Appraisement (East) while following the case has detected three Goods Declaration (GDs) i.e. KEAP-HC-8755-231213, KEAP-HC-8758-231213 and KEAP-HC-8761-231213 in which the mobile company found involved in tax evasion of Rs5million by taking undue advantage of in-admissible SRO 560(I) of the Sales Tax Ordinance 1990.

Subsequently, the MCC-Appraisement (East) through a letter asked the mobile company to deposit differential amount of duty/taxes in the national kitty.

On reply, the Chinese mobile company deposited the differential amount of Rs5million in share of duty/tax in the national exchequer.
