HANOI: Việt Nam’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.46 per cent in the first quarter, slower than the 6.12 per cent during the same period last year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) announced this week.
There were signs of GDP stagnation although Q1 is the first quarter to implement the socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020. Vietnam Television asked the economic expert Vũ Đình Ánh whether the figure affects the target GDP growth rate of 6.7 per cent as set for this year by the government.
