NEW YORK: Whatsapp is a newbie in the world of voice calls, where Viber has been ruling for many years now.
Most users can easily associate with the app, because it is stable, user friendly and provides pitch perfect calling experience.
In addition to it, Viber allows video calls as well and has the biggest collection of stickers that you could ever dream of. While it might sound like a simple addition, the stickers have helped the company make millions in revenue. It can’t be considered as an asset here, because all that we are going to compare is the voice calling quality, ease of use and how well the new comer fares when put against a seasoned performer.
User Interface
Whatsapp has the voice calling feature added as an icon in the top right corner, which you could simply tap into and it will instantly display a list of friends who have already installed the latest version of the messenger. In case they haven’t, you can always send them a text and ask them to update it to allow calls.
On the other hand, Viber does let you find friends from your contact list who have the app installed but you can’t message them unless they have it on their phone. The user interface is simple on both phones but when compared, Whatsapp is much easier and loads faster because it doesn’t rely too much on the device’s hardware specifications.
User Base
It is another area where Viber has no choice but to lose, because Whatsapp has a user base that is greater than Facebook. Their Android customers are really high and most probably every friend of yours have it installed on their phone. The user base makes it much easier to find people you need to call and urge them to update it. In Viber, you have to manually call them if you need to be in touch with them.
Call Quality
Because of their years of experience and strong technical department, Viber offers the best voice calling quality at the moment. No one can argue with this point, because it supports HD voice calls and when we tried making calls to multiple friends, the result was the same with everyone. There were no issues with their voice, the signal was perfect despite varying internet speed and it was fun. Whatsapp is equally good on Android, considering the fact that they have recently launched voice calls. However, you should use Viber for some time before the newcomer perfects their service.
