TUCSON: Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a Mexican national for an alleged attempt to smuggle almost 38 pounds of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine through the Port of Nogales on Tuesday.Cocaine, heroin and meth were removed from a smuggling vehicle that was referred for further inspection at the DeConcini crossing
Officers at the Dennis DeConcini crossing referred Martha Georgina Padilla-Lopez, 45, of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection of her Ford SUV and found nearly six pounds of heroin, more than 12 pounds of cocaine and more than 19 pounds of meth. The drugs are worth nearly $84,000; nearly $131,000 and more than $58,000.
CBP officers seized all drugs and turned Padilla over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
