PHARR: U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge arrested a Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico man after discovering $197,000 worth of alleged cocaine within the Mercury minivan he was driving.
“Our frontline officers have once again proven that teamwork is paramount in accomplishing the CBP mission of detecting illicit narcotics at our international bridges,” said Port Director Efrain Solis, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
Packages containing nearly 26 pounds of cocaine seized by CBP officers at Pharr-Reynosa International BridgeThis interception occurred on Feb.1, at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge after a tan 1996 Mercury Villager minivan, driven by a 42-year-old male Mexican citizen arrived from Mexico. After presenting his Mexican border-crossing card, he and the vehicle were referred for a secondary examination. With the use of all available tools and resources, including a canine team, officers discovered 10 packages of alleged cocaine hidden within the minivan. Officers removed and seized the narcotics which weighed approximately 26 pounds and seized the minivan as well.
CBP OFO arrested the Reynosa resident who was then released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
