TEXAS: A Tucson man was arrested for attempting to smuggle cocaine at the Mariposa crossing in Nogales, authorities said.
Melesio Rivera, 64, was taken into custody after nearly 38 pounds of cocaine was found within the dashboard of his Ford SUV, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
After a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the presence of drugs within the dashboard, officers found 14 packages of cocaine.
The cocaine’s estimated value was about $394,000.
The vehicle and cocaine were seized.
