US customs arrest woman seizes $762,000 Cocaine at Laredo Port

TEXAS:  US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized $762,000 in cocaine during an examination of a vehicle at the Lincoln-Juarez Bridge this weekend.

“Excellent observations during a quality primary inspection led to the interception of this significant load of narcotics,” said Acting Port Director Joseph Misenhelter, Laredo Port of Entry.

Bundles containing 99 pounds of cocaine seized by CBP officers at Laredo Port of EntryThe seizure occurred on Jan. 11, when a CBP officer referred a 2013 Mazda 5 driven by a 50-year-old female Mexican citizen from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico for a secondary examination.  An intensive inspection of the vehicle by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 40 bundles allegedly containing 99 pounds of cocaine concealed within the vehicle.

CBP officers seized the vehicle, arrested the subject in connection to this interception and turned the female over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.

CBP’s Laredo Port of Entry is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
