CALEXICO: United States Border Patrol agents from the Calexico Station patrolling near the Imperial Sand Dunes last week arrested three suspected drug smugglers and seized 138 pounds of marijuana worth more than $82,000.
The incident occurred after Border Patrol agents assigned to the remote video surveillance system observed three individuals in Mexico carrying large bundles approach the international boundary Fence. The individuals crossed over the fence into the U.S. and ran north.
Border Patrol agents responded to the area and apprehended three male Mexican citizens with no legal documents to enter or remain in the United States.
The men and marijuana were turned over to the custody of the Imperial County High Intensity Drug Traffic Areas Task Force for further investigation.
