NEW YORK: U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Drug Retailers, Electrical and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (L:RR), which rose 3.08% or 17.00 points to trade at 569.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Johnson Matthey PLC (L:JMAT) added 1.81% or 49.00 points to end at 2754.00 and Babcock International Group PLC (L:BAB) was up 1.62% or 16.00 points to 1005.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tesco PLC (L:TSCO), which fell 3.70% or 6.3500 points to trade at 165.1000 at the close. Tui AG (L:TUIT) declined 3.46% or 39.00 points to end at 1088.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (L:MRW) was down 2.62% or 4.10 points to 152.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1304 to 803 and 441 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.70% or 7.50 to $1068.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.36% or 0.57 to hit $42.47 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.27% or 1.01 to trade at $45.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.5130, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.7013.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 99.93.
