KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has issued a circular of attention for all ships and crafts citing the current situation of the Tropical Cyclone named ‘Vayu’ which is heading close to the coast of neighboring country India.
According to the details, the circular of attention for all Ships and Crafts issued by Karachi Port Trust (KPT) administration has maintained that Tropical Cyclone ‘Vayu’ is expected to fall on land expected between Kandla, India and Karachi on 15th and 16th of June with strong winds up to 45 knots and gusting up to 88 knots.
Deputy Conservator and Dock master of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has strictly suggested that all ships should double up the mooring arrangements for safety of ships and port structures as soon as possible to avoid any kind of loss.
Earlier Joint Maritime Information Coordination Center (JMICC) also issued an alert regarding the Tropical Cyclone ‘Vayu’ for the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Pakistan Ship’s Agents Association (PSAA), Sindh and Balochistan Fisheries including others for suitable arrangements.
In the alert issued by the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Center (JMICC), fishermen are advised not to venture in open sea and fishermen present in the open sea have been advised to return to the coastal areas.
People are requested to refrain from swimming in the sea and along the beaches whereas all the concerned are advised to exercise caution to avoid any loss of lives and damage to the public as well as private property.
