KARACHI: The testing of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in WeBOC has been successfully completed, high placed sources in the Directorate General of Reforms and Automation told Customs Today on Monday.
It may be mentioned that the absence of WeBOC interface with TPL,the private company installing the tracker system to monitor the movement of all containerized cargoes to Afghanistan on bonded carriers, was one of the issue that came under discussion during the meeting chaired by the Director General of the Transit Trade on September 3, 2014. The EDI interface between WeBOC and the M/S TPL would help the relevant authorities in Pakistan Custom take the necessary action in cases of violations of the prescribed Chaman and Torkham routes.
The Directorate General of Transit Trade had taken a strong notice of significant increase in number of alerts generated by the TPL because in case of door alerts a 100 percent examination is carried out at the Peshawar and Quetta Directorates. In addition, this also involves issuing notices to the bonded carriers for route deviations and unusual stoppages along the proposed route. Sources said that WeBOC interface with TPL Tracker System would be launched soon.
