ISLAMABAD: The trading community has suspended all trade and transportation activities across the country ahead of the proposed Azadi march of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
Sharing their views with Customs Today, trade associations including Federation Chambers of Pakistan, All Pakistan Trading Association, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Traders Welfare Association expressed great regret over current political turmoil, urging all the stakeholders to resolve the issue in peaceful manner.
Federation Chambers of Pakistan Vice President Munawar Mughal, on current situation said that trading community has been suffering millions of loss as govt grabbed their containers loaded with import/export goods to block the roads for PAT workers and march participants. He said exporters/importers have suspended trading activities after that which has been resulting into delay in delivery of consignments.
All Pakistan Trading Association President Ajmal Khatak said that supply has been suspended to trade market and traders were protesting on their millions of loss daily.
Islamabad Chamber of commerce former President Maqbool Ilahi has urged the govt to resolve the issue with political wisdom so that government’s efforts to stabilize the economy were not disturbed for mere political differences.
Islamabad Traders welfare Association President Sarfraz Mughal has also lamented on current situation saying that govt and political parties should consider daily wagers and traders community who were unable to continue their trading activities to earn livelihood for their children.
