LAHORE: Trade unions will stage shutter down strike in all over Punjab against imposition of 0.6 percent tax on banking transactions today (July 7).
As per details, the traders had urged the government to withdraw the new tax till July 6 but govt did not take any action on the proposal/ request of traders and consequently the trade union to protest today in Punjab.
The traders of different unions held meeting yesterday to discuss the matters pertaining to strike and reached the decision that levy of new taxes was not acceptable. Trader said that tax authorities wanted clash between traders and government
The anti-business steps by government must be withdrawn, otherwise the business community avoid depositing money in banks and has to use illegal means of transaction like hundi and hawala to run business, they added.
The traders demanded Prime Minister Nawaz and Finance Minister Ishq Dar to withdraw the decision to save the already disturbed markets and industries of the country.
The banks have no system for filers and non filers and many filers’ name not existed in FBR list owing to ambiguous policies.
