Traders reject govt offer for talks

ISLAMABAD: Traders have rejected the government call for holding dialog on withholding tax, however, dialogue between the Federal Board of Revenue and chambers’ representative has completed.

According to details, the government has invited traders for talks on the issue of WHT tax on bank transactions but traders have rejected the call and did not join the meeting held in the FBR headquarter on Monday. However, the chambers representatives have attended the meeting with the FBR.

According to sources, the FBR has assured chambers representatives in the meeting about decrease in sales tax and turnover taxes. While FBR has also suggested decrease in sales tax imposed on cement, sugar, ghee, and electronics goods.

Sources added that FBR has again invited traders for dialog on August 6 and 7, 2015 again.
