TORKHAM: The Customs team deputed at Torkham border foiled two attempts of smuggling and seized gold and ice drug from the possession of accused smugglers on Friday.
According to sources at Customs Station Torkham first attempt of smuggling was foiled when a man coming from Afghanistan was intercepted. During checking process two kilograms of ice drug was recovered from his custody. The accused smuggler was arrested and case was registered against him under Customs Act of 1969.
The second attempt of smuggling was foiled when gold was recovered from the bag of a person who was also coming from Afghanistan to Pakistan at Torkham border.
The Torkham Customs along with border management also foiled an attempt of smuggling weapons to Pakistan through Torkham border which was of international standard.
Collector Customs Collectorate Saeed Jadoon lauded the efforts of Customs staff deputed at Torkham border. He said that customs staff is committed to eliminate the risk of smuggling for which the customs officials will work with full swing.
