TOKYO: Tokyo stocks lost ground in early trading Tuesday as investors locked in some of the previous week’s gains amid an absence of fresh trading incentives.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 25.80 points, or 0.13 percent, from last Friday to 19,854.01. Tokyo markets were closed Monday for a holiday. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 4.39 points, or 0.27 percent, to 1,598.79.
