BANGKOK: The Thailand Motor Expo, which began today, several new models introduce to both the local and regional automotive scene.
In the Thailand market Subaru launched the Outback while, Mercedes, MG, Nissan, Honda, Mitsubishi, Proton and Mazda previewed their new offerings. Other car manufacturers included Mini, BMW and Porsche.
Mitsubishi Triton picks up truck, Honda HR-V, Nissan X-Trail, Mazda 2, MG3, the Mercedes C300 Hybrid and the Mini 5 Door among some of the highlights of the show. There were also a few concept cars like the Hyundai HND 9 and Subaru Viziv.
The HND-9 is a preview of the next generation car. It is equipped with a 365hp 3.3-litre V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Industry sources said that, this car could preview a smaller SUV for the brand in future. The Viziv has futuristic design cues and comes with a diesel electric hybrid with lithium ion batteries.
In Thailand, the Mazda 2 is being launched with its 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine.
Proton launched its Iriz in market, making its debut with both 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre engines.
The Chinese-owned British brand debuts the car with a 106hp 1.5 litre petrol engine that is equipped with a 5 speed semi automatic gearbox. The MG3 makes its entry into the Thai market after the introduction of the MG6 earlier this year. .Unfortunately, the MG brand is not present in the Malaysian market.
There were also a collection of classic cars on display, including the launches of several motorcycle brands such as the Ducati Scrambler, Triumph and Kawasaki.
