Taiwan makers shipped about 31.62 million notebooks in the first quarter of 2015, decreasing 16% from a quarter earlier, the government-backed MIC (Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute) has estimated.
The production value of the notebook industry will reach US$13.7 billion in the first quarter, down 15.6% from the previous quarter, MIC said.The notebook industry also saw its production value decline 2.5% sequentially to US$16.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2014 as ASP of notebooks slipped to US$432 during the quarter.
The ASP is expected to edge up to US$434 in the first quarter of 2015, buoyed by the launch of Broadwell models, MIC said.
