ISLAMABAD: With the aim to grab a huge potential market of small vehicles, the Suzuki Motor Company has announced to introduce 660cc cars in Pakistan with better safety feature and fuel efficiency.
This announcement was made by Suzuki Motor Company’s global head Kinji Saito during a meeting with Federal Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi.
The minister welcomed Pak-Suzuki Motor Company’s plans to introduce new models in Pakistan and said that Pakistan needs fuel-efficient, eco-friendly and cheaper cars to cater to the needs of the masses.
Saito briefed the minister about the company’s future plans, saying that it is planning to start a new plant for spare parts manufacturing in Pakistan with an estimated investment of over $350 million.
This will create an employment opportunity for 8,000 to 10,000 skilled and unskilled workers in Pakistan, he said.
Jatoi said that Pak Suzuki Company’s share is Pakistan’s auto industry is significant; however, he emphasised that Suzuki Company should bring its prices in Pakistan down to the level of the prices in other countries of the region, especially to those in India.
