ISLAMABAD: Sub-Committee of Public Accounts Committee Friday directed the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to make appointments on merit without any discrimination.
The meeting of the PAC Sub-Committee was held under the Chairmanship of MNA Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho at Parliament House. It was also attended by MNA Dr Arif Alvi and Sheikh Rohil Asghar.
The Committee discussed the audit briefs related to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and its allied departments during the meeting.
The Committee directed Secretary ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Arshad Mirza to follow the rules and regulations for appointments in ministry and its allied departments including Oil and Gas Development Company Limited.
The Committee Member Dr. Arif Alvi said public money should be protected and brought those black sheep before the law who were violating the rules and misusing powers.
The committee member Sheikh Rohil Asghar said “it’s our legal and moral duty to work for the interest of country and contract with companies should be fair and transparent.”
Managing Director Sui Northern Pipelines Limited Arif Hamid informed the committee that all efforts were made to complete the pending schemes in different areas of the country.
Secretary ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Arshad Mirza assured the committee that in future all appointments would be made on merit and strict action would be taken against those people who are reported to be involved in corruption or misusing of power.
The committee settled the different paras after the discussion and in some cases ordered for enquiry and report the Sub Committee of Public Accounts Committee.
