HELSINKI: The Finnish Health Technology Association FiHTA stated that the strong demand for Finnish health technology products led to record exports of €1.8 billion in 2014. Product exports grew 8.3 percent compared to 2013.Last year’s growth in exports was mainly due to 10.3 percent growth in exports of medical equipment.
Health technology is the largest high-tech export segment in Finnish industry, representing 47 percent of Finland’s total high-tech product exports. It also provides employment to 10 000 people in Finland. Altogether 95 percent of Finnish health technology production is exported.
Last year, Europe (comprising both EU and EFTA countries) remained the leading regional destination for Finnish health technology products. However, the leading country destination for exports was the USA, accounting for 33 percent of all product exports.
