KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued final hearing notice to M/s Water Link for presenting its view point before the competent authorities of Pakistan Customs-FBR in smuggling case of NATO/ISAF retrograde containers.
The sources informed Customs Today that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has fixed August 25, 2014 the final date for hearing the case of M/s Water Link.
The sources further stated that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I had issued Show-Cause Notice to the accused involved in the case in February-2013 after the MCC-Preventive registered an FIR.
“The representative of M/s Water Link requested for the adjournment of hearing 5 times during the entire period after issuance of show cause by the Collectorate of Adjudication-I on the grounds that the Managing Director (MD) of M/s Water Link Capt (retd) Ghulam Mustafa was suffering from cancer disease”, it added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I along with the management of M/s Water Link including its MD Capt (retd) Ghulam Mustafa, Manager Rizwan Yousuf, Assistant Manager Muhammad Rizwan Ishaq, Supervisor Qaiser Ali and office boy Muhammad Rafiq Shahzad has also issued show cause notices to M/s Tracon Services, M/s Ehsanuddin & Company and Satrah Khan, driver.
In reply, their advocates had submitted written reply in the office of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I while the General Manager and General Consul of M/s Water Link Shaikh Nasrullah have not submitted any written reply yet.
It may be mentioned here that the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC-Preventive had detected the case in which six above-mentioned persons were allegedly involved in stealing NATO containers at a private yard on Dec 7 at Port Qasim.
Subsequently, the accused persons got bail from Customs Courts and Sindh High Court (SHC).
The ASO of MCC Preventive during the raid had seized three containers bearing registration numbers LMSU 1400780, USAU 2059417 and MBIU 8260838 and two trailers bearing registration numbers TLQ-857 and TLC-514 in retrograde NATO/ISAF containers.
