COLOMBO: A Sri Lankan national arrested for allegedly smuggling gold into the country at international airport here the other day.
The passenger, who hails from Colombo, was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival from Singapore here on Saturday. He was allegedly found carrying about 2.5 kg of gold concealed in the cavity made in three iron and steel rollers kept in his baggage, a press release issued today by the customs said.
The value of the seized gold is about Rs 61.70 lakh, it said.
