KATUNAYAKE: Two barrels said to contain 50Kgs of sandal wood oil valued at Rs10 million, have been seized by the Customs at the Katunayake cargo terminal. The goods were detected at the time were being prepared for export to Singapore.
Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini said the consignment was declared as two barrels of documents. The raid was conducted by the Customs Bio Diversity Cultural and National Heritage Branch.
Meanwhile, Two Cambodian nationals were arrested with 35.9 kilos of ‘Wallapatta’ herbs (Gyrinops walla) worth Rs327,500 million while they were trying to flee to Bangkok, Gamini said. The goods were confiscated and a Rs200, 000 penalty imposed.
