LAHORE: The Special Court on Thursday sent a Czech woman heroin smuggler to jail on judicial remand of 14 days. She was arrested with nine kilograms heroin at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on Wednesday and was brought to the court by a team of Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P).
The 21-year-old woman, identified as Tereza Hluskova, was attempting to smuggle heroin from Lahore to Abu Dhabi. She was in Pakistan on a three-month family visit visa which was issued on November 15 and was valid till February 14. The Customs officials have refused to hand over the woman to Anti-Narcotics Force officials and was shifted to the Customs House.
According to the airport sources, the woman had crossed both counters of the Anti-Narcotics Force before getting caught. The Customs I&P said that raids are being conducted in different parts of the city as per the information shared by the woman.
Pakistan Customs has registered a case under Pakistan Customs Act of 1969 and has shifted her to Customs Warehouse for further process. Sources has confirmed that lady smuggler has said before the customs I&P that she knew that something is hidden in the bag but she doesn’t know that there is heroin in that bag. She said during investigation that she has already visited Gujranwala and Lahore for three times.
