SEOUL: South Korea’s producer price inflation accelerated further in September, preliminary figures from the Bank of Korea showed Monday.
The producer price index climbed 3.6 percent year-over-year in September, faster than the 3.3 percent increase in August. Prices for manufacturing industry products grew 4.9 percent annually in September and those of agricultural, forestry and marine products rose by 3.9 percent. The price index for utility products registered a growth of 5.0 percent. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased at a steady rate of 0.5 percent in September. It was the third month of rise in a row. The domestic supply price index rose 4.9 percent annually and by 0.8 percent monthly in September. Similarly, total output price index went up 5.3 percent yearly and climbed 0.6 percent from a month ago.
