ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Federal Board of Revenue Rawalpindi, has taken into possession a non-duty-paid smuggled used vehicle Toyota Hiace Van, Model-2000, worth Rs1.9million including taxes and duties. After initial investigations, an FIR also has been lodged against the possessor of the van and the case has been sent to the collector adjudication.
On a tip-off, the staff of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation FBR Rawalpindi intercepted a reportedly non-duty-paid smuggled foreign origin used vehicle Toyota Hiace van near Rawat Petrol Pump on GT Road Rawalpindi with a fake registration No: BQU-158 Jaffarabad.
Upon a demand, the driver and possessor of van Raja Nadeem Kiyani son of Sharafat Kiyani, a resident of Bara Koh Islamabad, failed to produce any import or auction documents except the photo copy of the registration book.
As per import and auction data available with the Directorate General, no import and auction record existed. After a report of the lab test from Islamabad Police and further confirmation from the PRAL and Motor Registration Authority Jaffarabad Balochistan, it has been confirmed that there is no record of the van. After the registration of FIR, notice has been issued to the possessor of the vehicle.
