KARACHI: Brisk shipping was recorded at the port where six ships, MSC Asya, MSC Earth, X-Press Kailash, Parando wski, Othoni and Thor Maximum carrying Container, Steel Coil, Chemicals and Coal were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Port Qasim Electric Power Terminal respectively on Monday.
Meanwhile three more ships, Dreggen, Macona and Nikolas-II with Chemicals, LNG and Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours. A total of nine ships namely, MSC Asya, MSC Earth, X-Press Kailash, Parando wski, Zi Jing Song, Sakizaya Wisdom, Christina-L, Thor Maximum and Othon are currently occupying berths to load/offload Containers, Steel Coil, General Cargo,Soya been seeds, Coal and Chemicals during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 107,196 tonnes, comprising 72,673 tonnes import cargo and 34,523 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 4,041 Containers (TEUs), (2,224 TEUs imports and 1,817 TEUs exports) was handled at the Port.
Five ships, MSC Earth, MSC Asya, Zi Jing Song, Sakizaya Wisdom and Othon are expected to sail on today.
Four ships, Maersk Denver, MSC Tomoko, Dreggen and Macona carrying Containers, 19,154 tonnes Chemicals and 68,000 tones LNG are expected to take berths at QICT, EVTL and EETL respectively on Tuesday.
