KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by Dr Farogh Naseem against demand notice, seeking details of properties, banks accounts and all kinds of expenses from him by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A two-member bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhter and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi, heard the application and continued interim order made earlier until the next date. “The court had suspended the operation of impugned demand notice on the last hearing,” it is reported.
Earlier, the FBR had issued a notice to senator of the Muttahda Qumi Movement ( MQM) Dr Muhammad Farogh Naseem advocate to submit details of properties, banks accounts, all kinds of expenses during the period from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014.
According to the notice, Barrister Farogh Naseem was asked to provide the breakup of management administrative and financial expenses along with supporting documentary evidence, details and evidences of all direct and indirect expenses. Details of all commercial, industrial and residential property owned with documentary evidence.
“You have made loan to your father amounting to Rs. 7,600,000 and claimed a gift of Rs.7,261,739 therefore you are required to provide the proof that the said loan is made through bank channal and provide the photocopying from the original documents” notice said.
He also was required para wise details, banks statements, number of dependent family members along with their photocopies of CNIC, name of institution studying and the payments made in lieu of their fees and complete banks of accounts required to be maintained as per rules 29 & 30 and wherever applicable rule 31 of the Income Tax Rules, 2002.
