SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala region has seized various articles and vehicles worth Rs 25 million from September 25 to October 25, 2016.
Sources told Customs Today that the department seized goods including imported tyres, grocery, LEDs, compressors and other items from Gujranwala region during different raids under the anti-smuggling campaign which continued from September 25 to October 25, 2016.
The department impounded vehicles worth Rs 15 million during different raids. The net customs duty involved in the seized items was almost Rs 6 million. Meanwhile, Customs Intelligence made five seizure cases of goods worth almost Rs 6 million in Gujranwala region during above said period.
Sources said that most of the items were seized from Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala division. The items seized in the three regions of Gujranwala Region– Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat.
Sources said that ASO teams after registering cases against accused persons forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.
Talking to Customs Today Superintendent Muhammad Rauf Farooqi said that ASO teams are using all available resources to curb smuggling in the region.
He said that after taking charge as Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Shaukat Ali directed all collectorates to adopt zero tolerance towards smugglers.
