SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation has seized as many as 10,000 smuggled mobile phones of assorted brands from a dubious truck during a special checking near Kamoke Toll Plaza, GT Road.
According to the senior customs officials, the mobile phones were being smuggled from Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to Lahore, when the anti smuggling squad foiled this big attempt and seized the mobile phones.
Sialkot Customs Collector Ahmed Raza Khan hailed the performance of Deputy Collector Waheed Anwar Abru, Superintendent Muhammad Suhail Butt and Inspectors Rao Muhammad Nawaz and Amjad Ali for busting the smuggling attempt. The value of the seized mobile phones was stated to be in millions of rupees.
The customs officials have arrested the accused truck driver Shehbaz , a resident of Shakargarh, while investigation is underway.
