KARACHI PORT
KARACHI: Karachi Port handled 256,652 tonnes of cargo comprising 180,735 tonnes of import cargo and 75,917 tonnes of export cargo including 7,834 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours. The total import cargo of 180,735 tonnes comprised of 78,465 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,423 tonnes of general cargo; 33,388 tonnes of coal and 67,459 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 75,917 tonnes comprised of 68,192 tonnes of containerised cargo; 318 tonnes of general cargo; 7,407 tonnes of bulk cargo: 4,336 tonnes of talcum powder and 3,071 tonnes of cement. As many as 7,834 containers comprising 5,228 containers import and 2,606 containers export were handled.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,472 of 20’s and 1,737 of 40’s loaded while 74 of 20’s and 104 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 758 of 20’s and 291 of 40’s loaded containers while 214 of 20’s and 526 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Tasanee, APL Sydney, Kota Anggerik, Santa Rosa, Lodestar Grace, Al-Soor-II and Sea Moon carrying containers, oil tankers and coal which sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are seven vessels including Kota Anggerik, MOL Direction, Kota Carum, Hanjin Lusiana, MT Karachi, Japan and Venture Pearl carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Posan and Hyundai Bangkok carrying containers which sailed out to sea on Monday, while five ships namely Kota Gembira, Northern Prelude, Kota Carum, Hanjin Lusiana and Hansa Africa carrying containers respectively are expected to sail soon. There are four vessels viz Hyundai Colombo, Cape Marin, Pona and Oriental Rose carrying containers and ethanol respectively due to arrive.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 99,145 tonnes comprising 80,284 tonnes of import cargo and 18,861 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,070 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. The total import cargo of 80,284 tonnes includes 46,286 tonnes of diesel oil; 10,400 tonnes of palm oil and 23,598 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,861 tonnes includes 3,129 tonnes of rice and 15,732 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,070 containers comprising 1,242 containers of import and 828 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours.
There is one ship namely CV MSC Kerry with containers which sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours, while two more ships namely MT Feng Hai-33 and MT Al-Salam-II carrying palm oil and diesel oil are expected to sail soon. A total number of seven vessels viz CV Maersk Detroit, CV MSC Kerry, MV Densa Leopard, MV Alam Manis, MV Hay, MT Feng Hai-33 and MT Al-Salam-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as one ship namely Inlaco Brave carrying wheat is currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
There are two vessels viz CV Safmarine Nagami and MV Inlaco Brave with containers and wheat expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FAP Terminal respectively. There are three ships namely CV Al-Farahidi, CV Maersk Kingston and MT Ruby-T carrying containers and palm oil due to arrive soon, while two more ships namely CV CMA CGM Bellini and MT Olympia Sponsor with containers and furnace oil are due to arrive. As many as three vessels viz CV Hammonia Pacificum, CV Taipei and CV JPO Libra carrying containers respectively are also due to arrive as per schedule.
