KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) restrained National Accountability Bureau to arrest Muhammad Hussain, senior member Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) and former commissioner Karachi, who was allegedly involved in money laundering and corrupt practices.
On April 3, 2019, a two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh issued notice to Director General NAB Sindh and special prosecutor for NAB directing them to file their comprehensive para wise comments on April 24, 2019.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner stated in his constitutional petition that he came to know that NAB officials are preparing NAB reference against him and he has apprehension of arrest. He argued that the petitioner has nothing to do with allegations leveled by NAB.
Citing DG NAB and investigation officer as respondents, petitioner pleaded the court that court may grant him pre-arrest and protective bail and directed NAB officials not to arrest him without permission of this court.
However, after the hearing, court restrained NAB officials from arresting him and sought comments on next date of hearing.
According to the NAB sources, inquiry is under process against Muhammad Hussain for allegedly owning assets beyond means and embezzlement of funds and money laundering.
