KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday postponed the hearing of more than 35 cases related to custom and income tax due to the boycott of lawyers against alleged kidnapping of Owais Ali Shah Advocate, son of Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
On Tuesday, Sindh Bar Council vice chairman and Sindh High Court Bar Association president requested the lawyers not to appear in the courts. Therefore, the court discharged the hearing of all cases.
The bar associations condemned the kidnapping of Owais Ali Shah advocate and appealed the lawyer community to boycott the hearing.
According to the roster, cases were fixed for hearing before a division bench, headed by Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, customs and income tax related cases including those which were filed by Pak Muharram Association, Ateeq ur Raham, M/s Noman Traders, M/s Paradise Pipe Ind & egg works, M/s Sadequiain Institute of Calligraphic Art, Airwaves Media Pvt Ltd, M/s Advance Engineering Associates, M/s Educational Services Pvt Ltd, Dada Steel Mills Pvt Ltd, M/s Mariam Enterprises & others.
