KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) in its verdict asked Pakistan Customs to release the consignment of M/s Royal Packages after submission of unpaid differential amount in share of duty.
According to the details, the Research and Development (R&D) Section of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Appraisement-East had identify a case of huge tax evasion of Rs308 million by M/s Royal Packages (Pvt) Ltd on misusing the SRO811(I)/2009 in the month of May, 2014.
The R&D Section held 12 consignments of polythene and polypropylene, imported by M/s Royal Packages (Pvt) after on charges of huge tax evasion of Rs308 million.
Subsequently, during physical inspection the R&D Section found that the M/s Royal Packages (Pvt) Ltd had no facility of manufacturing mono-filament yarn and net cloth.
Therefore, misuse of exemption had been established and the consignments were put on hold. However; M/s Royal Packages moved to court in order to release its stuck-up consignments.
Moreover, the R&D Section has already prepared and sent contravention reports against M/s Royal Packages (Pvt) Ltd to Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II, a month ago.
