KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has directed customs authorities to facilitate shifting of a consignment to CPF bonds and expedite the proceeding and decide the appeal within 30 days.
A two-member bench, headed by chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was hearing the application filed by M/s Eastern Contraction Co. During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner only prayed for shifting of goods to CPF bonds until his pending appeal is decided.
Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that petitioner imported a consignment said to contain units of old and used truck mounted crane and declared unit value at $5500 per unit and filed declaration on October 9, 2015.
According to the petitioner, during the examination, it was alleged that truck and crane have separate chassis frames, cabin and operation seats and its front and back ends were found to be welded fresh and were weak. It is an attempt to import old and used trucks in the grab of truck mounted crane which is violation of Import and Export Control Act, 1950.
Citing secretary ministry of finance, collector of customs appraisment-west as respondents petitioner pleaded declare that act of the respondents’ staff detaining the said used truck mounted crane of the petitioner, illegal, without lawful.
