KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday postponed the hearing of more than 70 cases related to customs and income tax due to the boycott of lawyers on the call of Pakistan Bar Council against the killing of Balochistan Bar Association’s president and over 70 people at Quetta’s Civil Hospital.
On Monday, the judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC) were informed that Pakistan Bar Council has announced full day strike against the killing of over 70 innocent people including Balochistan Bar Association’s president. Therefore, the court postponed the hearing of more than 70 cases related to custom and income tax without any proceedings.
According to the roster, the cases, which were fixed before a division bench, headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi were included customs collector versus M/s Leather, Muhammad Yasir Paracha, Tayaiba Khatoon, M/s Muhammad Kamaluddin, Muhammad Riazuddin, Farid Alam, Muhammad Naeem, M/s Mandiali Paper Mills Pvt Ltd, Director General of Customs Valuation, ICI Pakistan Ltd, Essa Cement Industries Ltd, Muhammad Saleem Ansari, M/s Pak Suzuki Motors Co, Gerry’s Danata Pvt Ltd, Transit Trade director, M/s OPAL-25 ( JV), M/s Glaxy Construction, Income Tax commissioner, Volkart Brothers Holding Co, M/s Habib Bank, A.G.Zurish, S.G Fiber Ltd, M/s Proter & Gamble Pakistan, Seri Sugar Mills Pvt Ltd, National Logistic Cell & others, M/s Unique Wire Industries and others.
Other cases were fixed for another division bench, comprising Justice Munib Akhter and Justice Anwar Hussain were filed by M/s Rafiq Commercial Co, M/s Universal Traders, M/s Hayat Trading, Muhammad Irfan, Qamran Construction Pvt Ltd, M/s Singer Pakistan Ltd, Osmani & Company Pvt Ltd, M/s Success International and Ors, Orient Electronics Pvt Ltd, M/s RH Enterprises and Org, Fast Bables Pvt Ltd, Inland Revenue (IR) commissioner, Modern Plastic Industries and others.
Meanwhile, the Customs Court postponed hearing of 19 cases related to customs and income tax due to the boycott of lawyers
According to the cause list, 09 out of 19 cases were fixed for formal hearing against accused namely a Syed Shams Ahmed Burni &others, Javad Akhter & others, Amin Muhammad & others, Abrar, Wajahat Minhas &others, Syed Tahir Hussain Jafri & others, Muhammad Kamran & others, Muhammad Aqeel Khan & others.
10 out of overall 19, cases were fixed for prosecution evidences against accused Sultan Ahmed Khan &others, Babar Ali Qamer, Akbar Mansoor &others, Abdul Ghaffar, Javid Ali, Muhammad Zahid, Majassam Mushtaq, Muhammad Rehan Mughal &others, Shar Muhammad Kamran & others.
