KARACHI: Additional Sessions Judge No 9 Karachi South Fateh Mobeen Nazam reportedly dismissed petition filed by M/s Omni Group against Chief Editor and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Customs Today Asad Kharal.
According to the details, a program aired on 29 January 2016 on ARY titled “Kab Tak” in which Asad Kharal allegedly highlighted various corruptions committed by M/s Omni Group and its affiliated groups and their which also includes their directors Khawaja Anwar Majeed, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Khawaja Mustafa Majeed, Khawaja Ali Kamal Majeed and Khwaja Namr Majeed.
They also filed a petition against Chief Editor of Customs Today in sessions court and on 29th April 2017 Asad Kharal was reportedly indicted in this case. The hearing of case was conducted around three years and Asad Kharal attended the hearings regularly.
On 6.4.2019, Additional Sessions Judge No. 9 South Mohtarma Fateh Mobeen Nizam released a detailed judgment and rejected the petition due to non-pursuance. The judgment further stated that despite indictment on April 29 no one appeared on behalf of M/s Omni Group and this act clearly showed that they have nothing to explain and so the petition is hereby dismissed due to lack of evidence.
