HYDERABAD: The Sindh Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has shutdown ten industrial units in Kotri SITE area, Jamshoro district for allegedly violating the environment laws.
The SEPA’s Regional Director Munir Abbass said that all the sealed units were issued prior notices by SEPA to comply with the environmental laws.
However, all of them continued to flout the law as well as the notices issued by SEPA, he said.
“We shut them down because they were not equipped with in-house treatment facilities to treat waste water, solid and chemical waste and air pollution.
The sealed industries include the pharmaceutical, electric wires and cables, flour and rice factories.
Abbassi said that the units could be restored only after they submit an undertaking that the treatment facilities would be installed in a specified period of time.
