ISLAMABAD: The secretary finance aims to brief the Finance Committee on the economic progress made in the previous fiscal year as well as in the first half of the current fiscal year today. The NA Committee had also sought briefing on the burning issue of imposition of General Sales Tax on petroleum products.
Finance Ministry has met all the performance criteria set by the international monetary bodies which has resulted in continuation of loans and grant programes by IMF, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and others donor organizations.
“Another evidence of positive economic growth is the ongoing talks between Pakistan and IMF in Dubai for the provision of sixth tranche of $ 550 million under the Extended Funds Facility (EFF) Program, of total value $6.64, after showing satisfaction on Pakistan’s economy” the source said.
Finance Ministry would highlight the economic and tax policies of the government, including an improved revenue collection of Rs. 319 billion by FBR in the first two months of current financial year as compared to corresponding period last year when Rs 279 billion were collected.
