SARA-I-MUHAJIR: The Anti Smuggling Organization confiscated foreign origin non-duty paid 7500 packets of different brands of cigarettes worth Rs1.5 million during a recent action near Dajal Bhakkar.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Asif Mehmood Jah received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a raiding party comprising Deputy Collector Shah Samad Hamdani, Superintendent Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad, Inspectors Mehmood Dogar, Muhammad Munawar Rathore and Sepoy Riaz Ahmad, Ziaul Hassan, Rasool Ghulam Sarwar, Safdar Hussain, Amin Bhatti to enhance checking on all the roads.
The team established a check post near Dajal Bhakkar. The ASO team intercepted a passenger vehicle bearing registration no: C-1558 Peshawar. During the search, the team recovered 7500 packets of different brands of cigarettes.
The team asked the driver about the legal status of the goods but he could not prove anything legal. The team seized the said items and shifted them to the compound of the Customs State Warehouse Sara-i-Muhajir.
