MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence’s Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) has foiled a bid to smuggle106 tons white spirit.
The Sadiqabad FIU staff carried out raid on a tipoff that huge quantity of smuggled petroleum Product will be transported from Quetta, Balochistan to different cities of Punjab en-route Sadiqabad Tehsil & District Rahim Yar Khan under the garb of irrelevant documents.
The staff intercepted two separate 22-wheeler trailers at National Highway Sadiqabad District Rahim Yar Khan. The trailers were loaded with drums of white spirit cumulatively weighing 106 tons according to Bilty duly issued by M/s Sitara Al-Hasan Goods Transport Company, Quetta in the name of consignor Haji Abdul Hadi, Quetta and consignee Sales Office, Faisalabad along with GD showing clearance of white spirit as general description of goods reflecting Mansoor Ahmad and Company Mall Road, Chaman as importer.
Release order of import consignment issued by NLC Dry Port, Quetta and photocopy of lab test report issued by Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan, Petroleum Testing Centre, Quetta.
The vehicles were brought to the office of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-FBR, Field Intelligence Unit, Sadiqabad for lab test and other verifications of documents, which seemed to be dubious and needed to be reconciled from the concerned quarters. Samples were drawn and send to authentic laboratory for chemical analysis in presence of drivers of the vehicles.
