MOSCOW: Export dynamics of the Russian forest industry goods may be characterized as rather satisfactory from the point of view of deliveries volume. However, there was observed a downward trend in value of the exported goods. These conclusions can be made based on the statistics provided by the Russian Federal Customs Service.
In Jan-Oct 2015, Russian roundwood exports decreased both in volume and in value. The Russian logs export volume went down by 8.18%, while its valued reduced by 25.5%. Thus, during this period Russia exported 15.56 million m3 of roundwood against 16.94 million in the respective months of 2014.
Thus, the Russian lumber export volume came up to 11.89 million m3, having grown by 9.11% year-on-year. Nevertheless, in Jan-Oct 2015 the exported lumber value went down by 19.24% having reached $2.59 billion (against $3.2 billion in Jan-Oct 2014).
The Russian plywood export volume grew as well. During the first ten months of the year it came up to 1.84 million m3 and went up by 11.43% year-on-year. However, in value terms the Russian plywood exports decreased by 15.09% – from $995.4 million down to $845.1 million.
The Russian pulp producers managed to grow exports both in volume and value terms. In such a way, the Russian pulp exports came up to almost 1.7 million tonnes (+11%) and amounted to $891.8 million (+4,23%).
