MOSCOW: The deputy chief of department of foreign citizens at the Federal Migration Service said that, “We are not ready to change travel rules until the inter-government revises the deal”
From January 1, 2015, citizens from the Commonwealth of Independent States will be obliged to come to Russia on foreign travel passports, except for citizens from Belarus and Kazakhstan assembled in the Customs Union along with Russia. However, the problem with Ukraine, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan should be settled before introducing this rule, Russian migration senior official Dmitry Demidenko said earlier. Kyrgyzstan asked Russia for help in this issue, he said.
The Russian government issued a resolution to provide for mutual trips on foreign travel passports with Tajikistan, Demidenko said.
“As for Ukraine, the issue is regulated by the inter-governmental accord. No changes will be made unless the inter-governmental agreement is revised,” he said.
