Russia has threatened to ban the import of fruit and vegetables coming from Belarus through Minsk, but originating from other countries, says the website of phytosanitary control body Rosselkhoznadzor.
The service is considering the transition in connection with numerous cases of import sanctions on ‘Belarus’ products. It is noted that fruits and vegetables were exported with a certificate issued by the Belarusian main state Inspectorate for seed production, quarantine and plant protection.
Rosselkhoznadzor thinks Minsk has failed to take effective measures to prevent the sales of these prohibited goods. The service plans to discuss the issue with the Belarusian party on March 27. If the decision is taken, then imports into Russia of regulated products will be possible through the checkpoints on the Russian sections of EURASEC.
In October, the head of the Federal customs service Valery Seleznev reported on the conventional method of bypassing the food embargo. In order to mislead the customs service, violators mostly resort to re-marking goods.
