ISLAMABAD: The federal government has so far released Rs270.326 billion for various ongoing and new development projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), out of total allocations of Rs 700 billion earmarked for the current fiscal year 2015-16.
According to the data of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, out of these total allocations, Rs 18,692 million have been released for Higher Education Commission, for which the government has earmarked Rs 31,100 million for the current fiscal year.
An amount of Rs1093 have been released for Defence Division for which Rs2458 million have been earmarked for the current year while the government also released Rs484 million for Capital Administration and Development Division, for which an amount of Rs1063 has been earmarked for the current year.
An amount of Rs14,029 million have been released for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, for which Rs30,408 million have been earmarked for the fiscal year 2015-16 while an amount of Rs7,810 million have been released for Railways Division for which Rs 41,000 million have been allocated for the ongoing fiscal year.
Similarly, the government released Rs10,832 million for Interior Division out of its total allocations of Rs12,299 and Rs12,126 million for Water and Power Division (Water Sector) out of its total allocations of Rs30,120 million.
The government also released Rs277 million for Aviation Division out of its total allocations of Rs3,900 million, Rs. 427 million for Cabinet Division, out of Rs654 million, Rs484 million for Capital Administration and Development Division out of its total allocations of Rs1,063 million.
The Climate Change Division has been provided Rs.6.4 million, Commerce Division Rs.150 million, Communication Division (other than NHA) Rs. 42 million, Defence Production Division Rs.360 million and Federal Education and Professional Training Division Rs.883 million.
The Finance Division has been provided Rs.2072 million, Foreign Affairs Division Rs 29 million, Housing and Works Division Rs.808 million, Industries and Production Division Rs 316 million, Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Rs150 million and Inter Provincial Coordination Division Rs1,298 million.
The government also released Rs 38 million for Narcotics Control Division, Rs624 million for National Food Security and Research Division, Rs8,123 million for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division, Rs118 million for Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and Rs330 million for Planning, Development and Reform Division.
The Planning Commission of Pakistan has been following a proper mechanism to release funds. According to the mechanism, 20 percent of funds are released during first quarter, 20 percent in Second Quarter (October-December) 30 percent in third quarter (January-March) and remaining 30 percent in the fourth quarter (April-June).
