LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling approved another 14-day judicial remand the suspect who was arrested in Faisalabad.
According to details, Niaz Muhammad was arrested by the customs authorities in smuggling scam. Earlier, he was produced before the court where Customs Court accepted his physical remand of three days for investigation on request of investigation and prosecution team of Faisalabad Customs and then he was sent to jail on judicial remand.
Customs Faisalabad again produced him before the court where the court sent him to jail for 14 days on extended judicial remand.
Earlier, he was booked by the Customs authorities when Customs Intelligence Faisalabad raided the warehouse of Niaz Muhammad and found huge quantity of smuggled cloth. The Customs team also asked him to prove that these recovered items are legally imported but he failed to produce legal receipts and import record of the cloth.
Customs Faisalabad seized all the cloth and arrested him. According to data presented before the Court by Customs authorities value of the smuggled clothes is Rs 8 million. Clothes are smuggled through KPK and Peshawar rout from Afghanistan and most of the cloth is Chinese and Korean origin.
The Customs authorities registered a case against suspect under Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
