A 27-year-old man from Rotterdam was arrested in the investigation into a large batch of cocaine seized at the port of Rotterdam early. The police think that this batch of cocaine may also be linked to the disappearance of Mohamed Anaya, who disappeared from Rotterdam.
Customs officers discovered the 720 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment from Ecuador on June 6th. The 27-year-old man from Rotterdam is suspected of involvement in this import. The police tracked the suspect down through contacts he has at the port of Rotterdam.
The police also believe this same drug import may be connected to Anaya’s disappearance on June 14th. He was last seen in the IJsselmonde district of Rotterdam at around 1:00 p.m. that day. His car was found in Rijswijk three days after his disappearance.
When the 26-year-old Rotterdam man went missing, the police said that his disappearance may have to do with criminal conflicts around missing or intercepted drugs. Investigators now believe it may be the cocaine seized on June 6th.
Anaya’s family hasn’t heard from him since June 14th, and there’s been no activity on his phone or bank account. His mother is very worried, the police said. A 10 thousand euros reward is offered for information that leads to the man’s whereabouts.
